Ifremer and JAMSTEC continue their cooperation in marine science

Ifremer (French Research Institute for Exploitation of the Sea) and Jamstec (Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology) have signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in marine science and technology.

The memorandum of understanding will remain in force for 5 years and covers :

  • Joint research projects including joint cruises;
  • Joint research units;
  • Mutual use of the facilities including research vessels, underwater vehicles, supercomputer systems, and instruments of each institute;
  • Workshops and symposia on topics of mutual interest;
  • Exchange of personnel;
  • Exchange of information.

It extends a cooperative relationship that began in 1998.
